Water Accounts and Payments

We read all meters once a year in August/September and send out the invoices at the beginning of October with a payment due date of 31st October.  Domestic customers receive a free water allowance of 160 m3 (160,000 litres or 35,195 gallons) per year, subsidised by Galway County Council.  A domestic connection is one which supplies an occupied dwelling house. Connections which are solely for farming purposes or businesses are classed as non-domestic, as are connections to holiday homes or unoccupied houses. Outside the allowance, all metered water is charged at €0.80/m3.

You can view your meter readings, bills and payments on cleverwater.ie. If you have not already registered, you can do so using your e-mail address and details from your latest invoice.

About half of our members receive bills of €0 and need not pay anything. For the others there are several ways to pay.

  • Click here to pay directly into your CleverWater account using PayPal.
  • Make an online or in-branch lodgement to IE67BOFI 903971 1279 2922
  • Small amounts of cash or cheques (payable to Gallagh Ag Co-op) can be posted to Fr Carter House, Cortoon, Tuam, Co. Galway or can be dropped in the letterbox.
  • If you have a large amount of cash it is advised to contact the secretary and hand it over in person.

We regret that we cannot accept card payments in the office or over the phone. Receipts can be issued on request or can be obtained by logging in on cleverwater.ie. Those who pay in full and on time are entered into a draw for cash prizes. This draw takes place at a committee meeting in early November.

It is easier to keep our accounts straight if you pay the exact amount. If you choose to round up or down then the difference will remain as a balance in your account. Balances less than €10 are simply carried over to the next year and we do not consider them as overdue.  Anyone owing more than €10 after 31st October will receive a reminder to pay and a new due date.  After that we issue 7-day notices, which are the final request to pay. Failing to act on a 7-day notice leaves you liable to be disconnected without further warning.

It is important that we keep our member database up to date.  Please inform us of any errors in your details and don't forget to notify us of any changes or transfers of membership.
